Newell Rubbermaid acquires education company

Atlanta, GA - March 15, 2011 - A Newell Rubbermaid subsidiary acquired a Seattle education company.

DYMO/Mimio is Newell Rubbermaid's student response and lesson plan brand, and includes products like interactive whiteboards and digital ink recorders. The acquired company, Headsprout, has software programs that are used in classrooms in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Headsprout's management team will stay with the company. In a statement, Sandy Springs-based Newell Rubbermaid said the acquisition will allow for "significant improvements" in interactive instructional technology.
