DYMO/Mimio Interactive Teaching Technologies Launches Contest Seeking Best Interactive Lesson
Grand Prize Winner to Receive Free Ride to the Florida Educational Technology Conference in February

CAMBRIDGE, MA - December 6, 2010 - DYMO/Mimio, a leading provider of interactive teaching technologies, presents the “DYMO/Mimio Content Contest,” with a chance to win a trip to the Florida Educational Technology Conference (FETC), one of the country’s premier K-12 education technology conferences, to be held in Orlando, Fla.

The contest will be hosted on the MimioConnect™ website, DYMO/Mimio’s free online community for educators, where they can easily exchange lessons, activities and ideas, as well as network with colleagues across the globe.

Open to K-12 educators across the country, beginning today through Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, the contest calls for teachers to submit their lessons with the most quality instruction elements created in MimioStudio™ software to www.mimioconnect.com/group/FETC2011Contest. MimioStudio software allows teachers to easily create interactive lessons that seamlessly integrate with DYMO/Mimio products, including the newly available MimioClassroom™ product suite.

“Teachers are finding more ways on MimioConnect to collaborate virtually through forums and peer-help groups like the ‘Make My Lesson Better Group,’” said Karen Mahon, Ed. D., product manager - content strategy. “This contest gives us a chance to reward and recognize those teachers who truly capture the DYMO/Mimio spirit of quality content: student-focused lessons with measureable objectives.”

A panel of judges will select the top six entries, from which they will choose one grand prize winner, to be announced Jan. 10, 2011. The grand prize winner will receive a full conference pass to FETC, Jan. 31 – Feb. 3, 2011, as well as round trip airfare to and from the conference and hotel accommodations for the duration of the show. The remaining five finalists will receive certificates of recognition.

Additionally, the grand prize winner will have the opportunity to present his or her lesson in front of other educators and attendees during a special conference workshop. The winning entry will also be showcased on MimioConnect.com, to an audience of more than 55,000 teacher-members around the world.

Contest entries may be submitted for any subject and grade level and will be judged upon several criteria including:

  • Level of student interactivity
  • Observable, measurable, student-focused learning objective
  • Number of opportunities for students to practice desired skills
  • Appropriate assessment, tied to objective (if included)
